Honoring Dakota Community Crafting Circle - Creating Mitakuye Owasin Youth Public Art

We need your help creating eight public art installations, which will be displayed downtown in July. We need a minimum of 32 individuals to assemble over 800 4"x4" canvases into a dynamic and colorful piece of public art. Each canvas was painted by a Red Wing School elementary student. During the month of April the Honoring Dakota Project engaged with the elementary students sharing about the meaning of the Dakota words, Mitakuye Owasin "Meh-tu-coo-yah Oh-wah-sin."

Once the art pieces are displayed downtown, we will welcome the community on an art walk and encourage our artists to share their creations with their friends and family members.

All are welcome. And all supplies are provided.

When: Tuesday, June 6th - 5:00 - 8:00 PM

Where: Clay and Creative Center, 1920 Old West Main Street, Red Wing

Mitakuye Owasin "meh-tu-coo-yah Oh-wah-sin
We are all related.

Interpretation: Our shared home holds our shared stories. We are all related. And even if we don’t always know what it means to be related, we know deep down we want to be in harmony with each other by being good relatives.
