Community Engagement Event Transplanting Sage from Prairie Island to He Mni Can
Pezi Hota (Pä-zhë Hö-tâ meaning Gray Grass) is plentiful at the Prairie Island Elder Gardens and yearning to return to He Mni Can. Join this upcoming community engagement session to learn about our plant relative and to be a part of bringing Pezi Hota back to He Mni Can.
This engagement provides an opportunity to connect with the land, our plant relatives, and our community while engaging in purposeful work. Connecting to the land is essential for the healing of our shared environment as it reconnects the people and the land to language, culture, and traditions. It can also promote a sense of identity and belonging, which are crucial for our overall well-being. Furthermore, land-based practices provide a sustainable way of life that is deeply rooted in the indigenous culture.
